James Robert “Bob” Goad

FRANKLIN

James Robert “Bob” Goad, 90, of Franklin, died at 5 p.m. August 10, 2017 at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin.

He was born August 7, 1927 in Goodland, to the late Isaac Mathew Goad and Ella (Dalton) Goad.

He graduated from Remington (Indiana) High School in 1945.

He served in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge in August 1949. He served aboard the USS Missouri in the navigational department for four years.

He married Sue Ann Brooks on June 7, 1957 in Remington. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2001.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Remington and American Legion-Dewey McGlynn Post 280-Remington for over 50 years in both organizations.

He worked for Remington Farmers’ Cooperative and Frick Farm Services.

He served eight years on the Remington town board.

He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and being a Green Bay Packers fan..

Survivors include his son, Jay (Emily) Goad of Franklin and daughter, Ellen (Wayne) Williams of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Paul Mathew Goad of Franklin and Mallory Louise (Allen) Sewell of Killeen, Texas; and his brother, Fred Goad (Mollie Hassell) of Chesapeake, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alva Goad and Albert Carl (Mildred) Goad.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Remington.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday August 19, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Remington, with the Rev. David Lee officiating. A private family interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Remington Fountain Park, or the Tri County Alumni scholarship fund of the White County Community Foundation.
