BALTIMORE — Three people have been killed in a particularly violent 24-hour stretch in Baltimore.

The latest killings have brought the total number of homicides to 216 for the year so far.

The most recent victims include a 16-year-old boy, a 69-year-old auto repair shop owner and a 24-year-old man.

The two younger victims have not yet been identified. The older man has been identified as George Madariaga.

Additionally, 15-year-old Tyrese Davis, who was shot earlier in the week during a robbery, has been pronounced dead.

Baltimore’s bloodiest year was 1993, when the city recorded 353 homicides. However, at the time Baltimore had 100,000 more residents than it does today. In 2015, there were 344 killings.
