CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 25-year-old Wyoming woman has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of her 1-year-old son.

Sabrina A. Sawicki, of Cheyenne, was arrested Monday and made her initial appearance Tuesday in Laramie County Circuit Court. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 17 before Judge Thomas Lee.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/2vF5msB ) that court documents say the child was taken to the Cheyenne hospital on April 24 and then transferred to a Denver hospital where he died on April 27.

An autopsy determined that the child suffered from head trauma consistent with “shaken baby syndrome.”

Sawicki told authorities she had accidentally bumped the boy’s head on a door frame.

Sawicki’s attorney, Casandra Craven, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
