WEST DOVER, Vt. — A Vermont fire chief is calling the response to a fire at a West Dover ski club a “great save.”

Several fire crews responded to the fire Tuesday at the Mount Snow Ski Club and Training Center after an employee found part of a wooden staircase “consumed” by flames.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (http://bit.ly/2uoFIo1 ) a security guard discovered the fire around 5:45 p.m.

Several Mount Snow employees used fire extinguishers to contain the fire, and West Dover Fire Chief Rich Werner says the heat set off the sprinkler system.

He says there was little fire damage to the building.

Werner says the fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause is under investigation.
