LISBON, Portugal — Benfica started the defense of its Portuguese league title by easing to a 3-1 win at home to Braga on Wednesday.

Switzerlzand striker Haris Seferovic netted his second goal in as many matches since joining Benfica on a five-year deal this summer, opening the scoring in the 14th minute from an assist by Jonas.

Jonas added another before Ahmed Hassan pulled one back for Braga just before halftime. Eduardo Salvio assured the win for the hosts in the second half.

Jonas and Seferovic also scored on Saturday to help Benfica beat Guimaraes 3-1 in the Portuguese Super Cup.

Elsewhere, Porto swept to a 4-0 win over Estoril despite losing striker Tiquinho Soares when he aggravated a right thigh injury.

Moussa Marega replaced Soares and went on to score twice, in the 34th and 60th minutes. Yacine Brahimi made it 2-0 in the 52nd and defender Ivan Marcano rounded off the win in the 69th.
