Police: Indy man was intoxicated, drove truck into house

A man was arrested after police said he drove a truck through a garage door and into the kitchen of a Greenwood home early Tuesday.

Pritpal Singh, 27, on Indianapolis, told police he was moving his truck from the street and into the driveway when he got stuck on the curb, hit the accelerator and drove into the house, according to the police report.

Singh was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The crash happened around midnight in the 1000 block of Central Park Boulevard, near Stop 18 and Sheek roads. Singh told police his cousin asked him to move the truck to the driveway of the house, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

Singh told officers his truck had gotten stuck on the curb and when he hit the accelerator the truck wouldn’t stop and plowed through the garage door and the kitchen wall, the report said.

No one was inside the house at the time of the crash, the report said.

Police found the truck sitting in the middle of the kitchen in a pile of rubble, the report said.

A breath test showed Singh’s blood-alcohol content was 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit to be considered intoxicated, the report said.

Singh, 1722 Brassica Way, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $1,000 bond.
