OAKLAND, Calif. — Authorities say a man involved in a road rage incident has been charged with arson for starting a wildfire in San Francisco’s East Bay hills area last week.
The East Bay Times reports (http://bayareane.ws/2wr6ei1 ) Tuesday that Alfredo Bautista of Concord was charged with setting a 20-acre blaze a few miles from the University of California, Berkeley.
Police say Bautista pulled a rifle on motorists on Aug. 2 before ramming his car into theirs and later went to a wooded area and started the fire with a cigarette lighter. Police say he admitted starting the fire.
Police say he also tried to steal a car in Berkeley the same day.
A firefighter was injured when he fell down a 50-foot embankment.
It was not immediately known if Bautista has an attorney.
