Ruth Coy

Ruth Coy, 96 of Avon, IN, passed away on August 2, 2017 at Hearth at Prestwick in Avon.

She was born February 21, 1921 in Blackie, KY. She was the daughter of Frank C. and Nellie M. (McIlquham) Martin. She married Kenneth C. Coy on April 27, 1956 and he preceded her on May 29, 1979.

She is survived by sons, Karl J, (Jeanette) Coy of St. Charles, MO, and Kenneth L. (Mary) Coy of Bloomington, IN; daughters, Margaret (Henry) Raymond of Martinsville, IN and Annette (Mark) Fowler of Danville, IN; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Rowland Martin and Frank Martin, sisters, Genevieve Martin, Jewell Martin, and Wilma Tennyson.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Toast Mistresses and Friend of the Greenwood Library.

She graduated from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was a registered nurse at Allison Transmission for 30 years retiring in 1980.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, flower gardening, reading, traveling, and tutoring children at Oasis.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 252 Meadow Dr., Danville, IN.
