DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines mother given probation in the death of her baby is back in jail, accused of drinking alcohol before her sentencing.

Television station KCCI reports that 27-year-old Laci Taylor was taken to Polk County Jail following her sentencing Thursday after a breathalyzer test showed she had alcohol in her system. The test was administered as she was signing up for probation.

Taylor had been given a suspended 10-year prison sentence and five years’ probation Thursday after pleading guilty to felony neglect of a dependent person. She is now being held without bond pending resentencing on Aug. 14.

Prosecutors say Taylor left the 3-month-old unattended Sept. 18 on a changing table. The girl’s airway was cut off when she rolled and her neck was compressed against the table ledge.
