COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a couple in South Carolina.

The State reports that Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott confirmed Wednesday that 43-year-old Ricardo Laroy Middleton was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the July 27 deaths of 40-year-old Aaron L. Collins and 46-year-old Sydni McMillan Collins.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department said on its Facebook page that the couple and a third victim were shot “after an earlier verbal altercation.”

Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s Sgt. Brittany Jackamonis says the victims were riding motorcycles at the time of the shooting. Authorities say the third victim has non-life-threatening injuries from a car accident at the scene. That person hasn’t been identified.

The investigation is ongoing. It’s unclear if Middleton has a lawyer.
