George William White

FRANKLIN

George William White, 88, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on June 5, 1929 in Nineveh Township to Paul Lane and Mary (Totten) White.

George married Martha Jane Giger on August 22, 1954. She lovingly survives.

Also surviving are children, Betty Jane (Anthony) Gomez of Franklin, Sarah Ellen (Walter) Sheler of Anderson, and John Marcus (Suzanne) White and Jeff Paul (Diann) White, both of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas White of San Diego, California .

He was preceded in passing by his parents.

He was a 1947 graduate of Franklin Community High School.

George was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

He retired from the United States Post Office in 1989, after many years of dedicated service.

He was a member of Union Christian Church and was a member of the Franklin Lions Club.

Rev. Allen Whitehurst will conduct a celebration of George’s life on Friday, August 4 at 1 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Friday, August 4 from 10 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of George to the Union Christian Church, 1267 E. 300 South in Franklin, Indiana 46131.
