ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Police have charged a North Carolina teenager in a man’s stabbing death.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department told local media outlets on Wednesday that 19-year-old Juan Ellis is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

According to authorities, the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was stabbed on Tuesday and died at a hospital on Wednesday. Police wouldn’t elaborate on the nature of the victim’s injuries, except to say he was stabbed in the “lower extremities.”

Ellis was originally charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury before the victim died.

Police have not said what led up to the stabbing.

It’s not known if Ellis has an attorney.
