Greenwood resident holds suspected burglar at gunpoint

After finding a man in his home, a Greenwood resident held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Police were called to the home in the 800 block of North Madison Avenue after the couple that lived there heard glass breaking, and found a man they did not know in a spare bedroom about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Kyler W. Thompson, 46, Indianapolis, was arrested on a charge of burglary, residential entry, criminal trespass and a warrant from Marion County.

Thompson had told police that he was swimming with a friend next door, and the friend had run into the neighbor’s house and he went after him, according to the Greenwood Police Department report.

The neighbor told police she did not know Thompson and did not give him permission to swim in her pool, the report said.

Police found cash, a radio, a cellphone and pliers, which were missing from the resident’s home, the report said.

Thompson, 1033 Bradbury Drive, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held without bond.
