LYONS, Ohio — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting and wounding a deputy in northwestern Ohio following a daylong search near the Michigan state line.

Authorities say the suspect was found Tuesday afternoon in Toledo, roughly 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of where the shooting happened Monday night.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s office says deputy Jeremy Simon was shot twice while pursuing a stolen vehicle in the village of Lyons.

The sheriff’s office says the deputy’s injuries are not life threatening.

Authorities have charged 18-year-old Jeshua Gilmore, of Metamora, with attempted aggravated murder and fleeing and eluding.

It’s not clear yet whether Gilmore has an attorney. He was being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
