COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A suspected shooter and a woman are dead and two other people were wounded in Colorado Springs after the suspect also allegedly fired at police and other first responders.

Police say officers responding to a shooting at a townhome complex found two people wounded in one unit Monday night. They say the officers, firefighters and an ambulance crew were then shot at from the second floor of an adjacent townhouse but they weren’t injured.

Police spokesman Lt. Howard Black told The Gazette that the officers didn’t return fire.

A SWAT team eventually entered the neighboring townhome and found two people dead — the suspected shooter and a woman.

The two wounded people initially found are expected to survive.
