Lilly Endowment accepts scholarship applications

The Johnson County Community Foundation will award three Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships in 2018.

The number of Lilly Endowment Scholarships available to each county in Indiana is based on population. Most recently, Johnson County has awarded two Lilly Scholarships.

Recipients receive full tuition to the Indiana college or university of their choice and a $900 yearly stipend for books and equipment.

Online applications for the 2018 Lilly Scholarship open today and are due Aug. 25.

Winners are selected based on volunteer community service, academic preparation and performance, leadership and good character.

2 local students earn Brothers Scholarships

Two local students have won a $2,000 Brothers Scholarship.

Heritage Group Scholarship Fund awarded Jamie Ford of Nineveh and James Phillips of Greenwood with the scholarship.

Recipients have parents who work for the Heritage Group and are chosen based on need and academic and personal achievements.

Smart Start art fair, open house planned

Parents of prospective preschool students can check out an art fair and open house in August.

Smart Start Childcare and Preschool, 203 Commerce Drive, Franklin will have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 4.
