Police: Man who robbed teen arrested

A man was arrested after a teen reported he was robbed when he went to a Greenwood apartment complex to sell electronics he had listed for sale online.

Jawon R. Jones, 18, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of robbery, theft, pointing a firearm and possession of paraphernalia.

Police were called to Polo Run Apartments at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, where a teen said he came to sell an Apple Watch and a gaming system that he had listed for sale online. A man then took the items without paying and ran, the report said. The teen’s mother recorded the encounter.

When the teen chased after him, the man pointed a gun at him and the teen ran away, the report said.

Police searched for the items that were stolen to see if they were listed for sale, and found the Apple Watch listed that same day. An officer set up an undercover deal for that afternoon and went to buy the watch, the report said.

Jones was arrested, and police found the watch and a gaming system in his backpack matched the serial numbers of the ones stolen, the report said. Jones later told police he had taken the items, the report said.

Jones, 1103 Coventry Court, Apt. 1254, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $19,400 bond.
