County repairing building with flood damage

Some county offices had to temporarily relocate to other county buildings following the flood that occurred in mid-July.

The Johnson County Commissioners are currently working with a restoration company to assess the damages and get anything that needs to be removed from the Johnson County Courthouse west annex building. The basement was closed following the flood, and they removed as much from the offices as they could, including documents and desks.

As of now, the county does not have finalized plans or costs for the project since they are currently in the demolition stage, Commissioner Ron West said.

The floor of the basement was ruined, requiring new floors to be put in. The restoration company is assessing other damages to see what steps need to be taken.

County officials also are discussing remodeling the second floor of the building, but do not yet have details since the damaged area is a priority.
