A car slid into a retention pond near a Center Grove area strip mall Wednesday evening.
Lisa Sharp, 49, of Indianapolis, who was not in the vehicle, told a deputy that the car in the pond west of the Sugar Groves Shoppes strip mall on Smith Valley Road was her vehicle, but that she didn’t know how it had gotten into the water, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.
Using scuba gear, a deputy checked the vehicle to make sure no one was inside. Investigators suspect the car was not in park when Sharp got out, the report said.
The car was removed from the pond by a wrecker service, the report said.
