Franklin man facing charges of auto theft

A rural Franklin resident has been arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle from another county.

Evert L. Jimenez, 21, of South County Road 537E, Franklin, was arrested after a Columbus Police Department officer conducted a routine license plate check, spokesman Lt. Matt Harris said.

The vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, was stopped on Monday evening in Columbus. Jimenez, who does not have a driver’s license, was driving, Columbus police said. The vehicle was reported stolen from Jennings County earlier this month.

Jimenez was arrested on charges of auto theft and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license. He was held in the Bartholomew County Jail on $10,000 bond.
