GREENWOOD
Shirley M. Hamilton Leffert, 82, passed away on July 21, 2017. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born May 1, 1935 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Shelby and Gretna (Mottsinger) Humphrey.
Her memory and legacy carry on through her loving daughters, Debora (Mark) Sinders and Lisa (Patrick) Dungan; her devoted grandchildren, Nick (Erin) Sinders, Nathan (Nicole) Sinders, Stephanie (Matt) Thomas, Rachel (Ben) Ehrsam, and Staci Dungan; three great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Robert Ford.
Shirley retired after over 30 years from the B.M.V. as a hearing officer.
She was an avid gardener and a seamstress.
She traveled all 50 states, loved family Holiday World vacations, and enjoyed walking 5K races following her retirement.
She was a member of Christ’s Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood.
