Mary Ruth Duffer

TRAFALGAR

Mary Ruth (Riley) Duffer, 79, of Trafalgar, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 8, 1937 in Celina, Tennessee, to John Albert Riley and Beulah Mae (Spear) Riley.

She married Bobby G. Duffer on June 21, 1953 in Martinsville; he survives.

She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

She devotedly spent her life to the loving care and attention to her special needs son, Robert G. Duffer.

She attended Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby G. Duffer of Trafalgar; son, Johnny D. Duffer of Trafalgar, daughter, Mary J. Tanner of Trafalgar; five grandchildren, Stacy Hogue (Bobby) of Trafalgar, Neal Tanner of Greenwood, Kim Kersey (Chris) of Greenwood, Justin Perry (Jasmin) of Trafalgar and Dustin Keith Duffer of Lafayette, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, Cambrie Perry, Hanna Kersey, Olivia Kersey, Emily Hogue and Cody Tanner; and two sisters, Betty Lou Cowden (Richard) of Helmsburg and Edna Sue Yoder of Bean Blossom in Brown County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four children, Robert G. Duffer, David A. Duffer, Cindy Duffer and Joanna Cravens; and a brother, John Robert Riley.

The Rev. Ron Sodrel will conduct a service Wednesday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
