Suzanne Claire Hinsch

Suzanne Claire (Campbell) Hinsch, 77, of Bargersville, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1939 in Indianapolis, to Frank and Thelma (Welch) Campbell. She was very close to her mother, and at a young age, she lived in Illinois and moved to with her parents to Indianapolis on Jan. 1, 1962.

She married Rodney Hinsch on Oct. 16, 2004; he preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2015.

She was a 1957 graduate of Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. She received her R.N. degree from Indiana University, her BSN from Marian University, her MHA and MBA for the University of Indianapolis.

She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honorary. She had been a nurse for over 30 years and served as director of nursing for Westview Hospital in Indianapolis.

She then worked for NASA in the research department having developed the “Campbell Effect” in studying weightlessness in space and the results of loss of calcium in the bones resulting in the long term.

She later served as a nurse for Riley Hospital for Children, Marian University and Franciscan Health, retiring in 2008. She had taken an interest in archeology.

She enjoyed traveling extensively with her mother to California and Florida and going on cruises.

Education was a priority in her life.

Survivors include her niece, Christina Lynn McConnell of Carmel; four great-nephews, Dylan E. McConnell, Michael A.T. McConnell, Robert J. McConnell and Jeffrey S. McConnell; one great-niece, Emily A. McConnell; and one great-great-nephew on the way; her caregiver, Margie Warren of Bargersville; and a small but close group of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Lynda Lee Campbell Stelhorn.

The Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct a service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary, 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
