Martha L. "Marty" (Adams) Sichting, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 17, 2017 at her home in Trafalgar.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1938 in Beech Grove to the late Marion C. and Wilma E. (Roney) Adams. Marty was a 1950 graduate of Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska and received her undergraduate degree in education from Franklin College in 1960.

She went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Indiana University. While in college she was awarded membership into the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society and the Theta Alpha Phi National Theater Honor Society.

Marty retired in 1999 from the Indian Creek Middle School where she worked as the guidance counselor. Prior to that, she held the same position with the Martinsville school district and Clark Pleasant schools.

Marty was a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church, where through the years she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir director and as an administrative council.

While wintering in Florida, she attended the Estero United Methodist Church and was active in the Tahiti Residents Club where she organized and directed the variety show for the past 12 years.

Other memberships include the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star and Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority.

Marty was a fan and supported her children, and later her grandchildren, in their school activities. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with family and friends.

Marty is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Don E. Sichting, whom she married on June 27, 1959 in Morgantown. She is also survived by her children, Patty (George) Prokudin of Franklin, Stephanie Sichting of Trafalgar, Kay (Kelley) Sichting of Indianapolis and Andy (Natalie) Sichting of Trafalgar; siblings, Sandra Lewis of Franklin and Don Adams of Texas; grandchildren, Claire, Camryn, Keegan, Adam, Landon and Alexa.

The Rev. Ann Spahr will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Morgantown United Methodist Church, 20 E. Washington St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
