Traffic stop in Columbus leads to man’s arrest

An Edinburgh man who was driving without a license plate was arrested after police found a needle and methamphetamine in his clothing, police said.

Matthew R. Nelson, 25, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a drug injection device and a Jennings County warrant for methamphetamine possession.

He was stopped in Columbus on Saturday after a police officer saw him driving without a license place, Columbus Police Department spokesman Lt. Matt Harris said.

Officers found a needle and methamphetamine that Nelson had concealed in his clothing, Harris said.

Nelson was held without bond in the Bartholomew County jail.
