Robert W. “Doc” Garmon

EDINBURGH

Robert W. “Doc” Garmon, 73, of Edinburgh, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Scottsville, Kentucky. He was the son of James W. and Eza (Meadows) Garmon. He married Marjorie (Dean) Garmon.

He is survived by his wife; son, Robert W. Garmon Jr. of Indianapolis; daughters, Tami (Joe) Scanland and Beth (Mike) Bohall, both of Martinsville, Sharon Crouch of Edinburgh, Debbie Ballinger of Indianapolis and Susan LaRoux of Edinburgh; brothers, Elvis Garmon of Milan, Paul Garmon of Melbourne, Florida, Gerald Garmon of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sylvia Yokley; and brothers, Carl, Arnold, Willard, Don and William “Buck” Garmon.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He served in law enforcement for over 40 years, including serving in Edinburgh from 1986 to 1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and discussing politics.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Douglas Smith at the Edinburgh Full Gospel Church. Calling will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and from noon until time of service on Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
