Silk painting demonstration, exhibition

Indianapolis artist Sylvia Gray is SALI’s guest artist for the month, and her work is on display through July 29. Gray’s work is a collection of silk paintings and wearable art, and impressionistic oil paintings.

From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Gray will present a silk painting demonstration at the SALI Off Broadway Gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood.

An open house for a meet-and-greet will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the gallery.

In a statement Gray said she finds inspiration from the work of German expressionists, the Blue Rider Artists and Wolf Kahn.

“I never let a day go by without drawing or painting, trying to better my skills and more clearly express my emotions through art. I am a big believer in the magic of taking action towards your dreams,” she said in the statement.

Gray is a member of Indiana Artisan, the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association and Silk Painters International.
