Vera Jean “Jeanie” Adams

Vera Jean “Jeanie” Adams, age 87, passed away peacefully Monday evening, July 3, 2017, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She had made her residence there for over 45 years.

She was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Conneaut, Ohio, to the late Maurice and Helen (Alexander) Adams. She was a 1947 graduate of Broad Ripple High School. Jeanie was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and was very active in the services at the Franklin United Methodist Community Church. Jeanie sang in the choir at the church for 25 years. She also was a greeter and passed out hymnals before services.

During her time at the Franklin United Methodist Community, Jeanie enjoyed volunteering her time by delivering the daily mail and newspapers to the residents and would often clip coupons for the nursing staff as a way to say “thank you” for their daily care.

She loved playing Bingo, listening to music and participating in arts and crafts. Jeanie also enjoyed watching the Olympics, especially ice skating, reading the paper and watching her favorite movies, “The Sound of Music” and “My Fair Lady.”

Jeanie will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and her positive, outgoing energy.

She will be missed by her long -time friend and adoptive brother, Mike Ramsey of Franklin; aunt, Sarah Louise Kritzer of Nashville, several cousins as well as her many friends and the employees of the Franklin United Methodist Community.

Chaplain David Owens will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Franklin United Methodist Community Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Jeanie to the employees’ Christmas fund at the Methodist Community or to the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County Indiana c/o P.O. Box 308 Morgantown, IN 46160.
