Helen Reed, 89, passed away on Friday evening, July 7, 2017 at her residence in Franklin.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1928 in Casey County, Kentucky to Oscar and Mayme (Pettyjohn) Harrod.

Helen is survived by daughter, Doris (Lester) Fleener of Hustonville, Kentucky; son, Phillip E. Collins of Liberty, Kentucky and daughter, Anita Canary of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Jennifer Addair of Greenwood, Michael Fleener of Camby, Brad Canary of Greenwood and Brian Canary of Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brian, Kylie and Ally; brothers, Oscar Pettyjohn, Jr., Dee Pettyjohn, Leon Pettyjohn and Donald Pettyjohn, all of Kentucky and sisters, Inez Woodrum and Ina Pettyjohn, both of Kentucky.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; two sisters, Alma Colwell and Mildred Logsden; one brother, Hugh Pettyjohn; and husbands, Luther Collins, Burnis Cox and Dewey Reed.

Helen was a beautician for 50 years. She owned and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop in Franklin for 44 years.

The Rev. Walter Howard will conduct a celebration of Helen’s life at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
