Eddie W. Morris

BARGERSVILLE

Eddie W. Morris, 76, lifelong resident of Bargersville, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.

He was born Dec. 16, 1940, in Union Township in Johnson County, to Bruce and Callie (Wise) Morris. He married Joyce L. (Davis) Morris on Feb. 2, 1967, at Shiloh Community Church in Franklin, she survives.

He was a 1959 graduate of Center Grove High School where he lettered all four years in basketball and baseball. He attended Ball State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. He was a lifelong farmer of the Bargersville community and had worked at the Allison division of General Motors in Indianapolis for 30 years.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Bargersville where he had served as a deacon. He had served on the board of directors of the Johnson County Farm Bureau Co-op, Bargersville planning commission, member of the Johnson County Fair Association, member of the Johnson County Beef Association, and along with his wife Joyce where 4-H leaders of the Bargersville Blue Ribbon 4-H club. His greatest enjoyment of having three generations of his family grow up on the family farm in Bargersville when in 2013 the family received the Farm Family of the Year Award. He was proud of children and grandchildren’s achievements in 4-H.

He and his wife Joyce enjoyed spending the winters in Venice, Florida, for over the past 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. (Davis) Morris of Bargersville; son, Bruce W. Morris and daughter in-law, Lori of Bargersville, daughter Mindy J. Paulin and son in-law, Chad of Trafalgar; grandchildren Zach Morton (Lauren) of Bargersville, Samantha Morris and Wyatt Morris, both of Bargersville, Cohen Carter, Isaac Carter and Ethan Paulin all of Trafalgar; a sister, Linda Nuffer of Martinsville, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Rev. Roger Gifford will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
