Learn how spiders, worms help home gardens grow

Two upcoming programs sponsored by Trafalgar Country Gardeners will separate fact from fiction about the creepy crawlies in your garden. Both talks are free and open to the public.

“Worms and the Garden” will be presented at 6 p.m. July 27 in the Trafalgar library, 424 S. Tower St.

Brown County gardening expert Torrie Birkemeier will talk about how worms break down plant materials and create compost that you can use in your garden. She will discuss vermicomposting and how it can benefit home gardeners.

At 6 p.m. Aug. 31, naturalist Leslie Bishop will present a fun talk titled, “Wonderful World of Spiders.” This program also will be at the Trafalgar library. Bishop will talk about the benefits of the oft-maligned creatures.
