Jerald E. “Jay” Nothstine

GREENWOOD

Chief Master Sgt. Jerald E. “Jay” Nothstine, United States Air Force (retired), age 76, of Greenwood, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Jay was born in St. Charles, Missouri, on Jan. 29, 1941, to Clemmel L. Nothstine and Clara F. (Pottebaum) Nothstine. On May 28, 1960, he married the love of his life, Millie H. Weber Nothstine. He retired after 24 proud years in the United States Air Force, where he served in Vietnam and attained the highest enlisted rank possible. He then served in The Knights of Columbus where he rose to be the Colorado State Deputy and was a member of Msgr. Bernard P. Sheridan Council #6138. Jay and his wife, Millie, are members of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Millie H. Nothstine; four children, Karen Carmichael (Thrasher), Marlene Nothstine, Jerry Nothstine (Inger) and Kevin Nothstine (Karla); one brother, Benjamin Nothstine (Peggy); 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Viola, Leona and Glovena; and one brother, George Nothstine.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. A rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St., Greenwood. Military honors will be rendered at the church. Interment services will be private.

Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home or memorial contributions made in Jerald E. Nothstine’s name to The American Cancer Society.
