Celebrating America: July 4th events

Friday, June 30

›› Sparks in the Park, 6 p.m. to dark, Friday, Johnson County Park.

Mr. Zero, a group that combines classic rock and modern hits will perform as headliners. The opening band, Hoot Von Woot, plays a mash-up of folk, rock and bluegrass.

Mallow Run Winery and Taxman Brewing Co. will be on site serving refreshments, while Traveling Taste Buds and SON’s Kettlecorn will have food available to purchase.

Tickets to the concert are $5, with kids 12 and under in free. The Indiana Live Steamers will be offering train rides for $3.

The fireworks show, which starts at dusk, is free and open to the public.

Friday, June 30
›› Mallow Run Red, White & Blueberry Festival, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
Mallow Run will offer blueberry wine over the weekend, and local musical acts will provide entertainment.
Mallow Run will be open late on July 1, with local musicians Andra Faye and Scott Ballantine entertaining the crowd from 1 to 4 p.m. The Big 80s, a five-piece tribute band playing all the hits of the decade, will perform.
A fireworks show will wrap up Saturday night.

Sunday, July 2
›› On Sunday, An Innocent Band, a Billy Joel cover band, will play during the day and country singer-songwriter Christine Nicole will play from 2 to 5 p.m. July 3.

Monday, July 3

›› Firecracker Festival, 6 to 10 p.m. Monday
The Franklin Firecracker Festival will be set up on the downtown courthouse square starting at 6 p.m.
Activities will include a classic car cruise-in, bounce houses, a stilt-walker and music by rock band Living Proof.
The traditional Fastest Kid in Town race will let local kids compete to see who’s fastest this year.
