James Donald Wood

James Donald Wood, 86, passed away June 20, 2017, in Seymour. He was a resident of Seymour and formerly of Whiteland.

James was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Greenwood, to Garner and Viola (Teltoe) Wood.

He married Velma Morris; she preceded in him in death in December of 2015 after 61 years of marriage.

James was employed as a plant manager at Allison.

He was a charter member of the Jubilee Lodge 746-Whiteland for 50 years. He was Master Mason at Greenwood Lodge 514 in 1960 and Master of Lodge 514 in 1966.

James loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include two children, Steven R. (Faye) Wood of Indianapolis and Cathy L. (Greg) Reasoner of Seymour; two brothers, Dick (Debbie) Wood and Mike (Kathy) Wood, both of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Nicole Nikirk, Darcy Wood, Stephanie (David) Kaye, Natalie Wood and Derek Wood; and two great-grandchildren, Lucy Nikirk and Dawson Kaye.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Wood; his parents, Garner and Viola (Teltoe) Wood; two brothers, Garner Wood Jr. and Carl Wood; and a sister, Imogene Murphy.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be at noon on Saturday before the service. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.
