EDINBURGH
Jerry W. Cowan, 68 of Edinburgh, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his son’s residence in Avon.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1948, in Adair County, Kentucky. He was the son of Ollie James and Loracy (Burton) Cowan.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Jessica) Cowan of Avon, and Dustin (Jamie) Cowan of Edinburgh, daughter, Angela (Shane) Wade of Edinburgh; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eulis, Junior, Earl, Ralph and Donald Cowan; and sisters, Loedda M. Price and Helen Sallee.
He was a member of Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh.
He retired in 2016 from GTR after 29 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, playing softball, playing cards and watching NASCAR.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Lewis Burton at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church and from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
