Franklin appoints deputy fire chief

A 10-year veteran of the Franklin Fire Department has been named as the new deputy chief.

Andrew Tames was appointed to the deputy chief position last week, a city of Franklin news release said.

“His leadership skills, community mindedness and attention to safety made him our top choice,” Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett said in the release.

The previous deputy chief, Jim Reese, retired earlier this month after serving with the fire department for 36 years as a firefighter, code enforcement officer, chief and deputy chief. He was chief during the construction of Station 22 and Station 23, the release said.

“Former deputy chief Reese’s experience and leadership will be missed by the city of Franklin,” Barnett said.
