Greenwood woman killed in accident

Police are investigating what caused a crash that killed a Greenwood woman during the weekend.

The crash happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle went off Interstate 65 near Southport Road, according to a news release from Indiana State Police.

Traci McCracken, 51, was killed in the crash, the release said.

McCracken’s vehicle was the only one involved in the crash, police said.

Police said McCracken’s vehicle was headed north on I-65 and went off the road and into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.

McCracken was ejected from the vehicle and 911 callers said she was critically injured. Emergency workers tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not believe McCracken was wearing a seat belt. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death, the release said.

State police now are investigating the cause of the accident.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses and trying to determine what caused McCracken’s vehicle to go off the road. As with all fatal crashes, blood tests are being done to look for any drugs or alcohol, the release said.
