Robert Max Foster

Robert Max Foster, 73, of Lebanon, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 22, 1944, in Lebanon, a son of the late Orville “Shorty” Foster and Olive Melissa (Stern) Foster.

Max married Sonja F. (Bruner) Foster on July 1, 1967 in Lebanon; she survives. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception in their honor.

A lifelong resident of Lebanon, he was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following high school, Max joined the U.S. Army and served his country with honor.

Max had worked for the Lebanon Community School Corporation for 17 years, most recently as corporation locksmith.

As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family. Max was known for his generosity and kindness and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Sonja Foster of Lebanon; two children, Jessika J. Hammons (Geoff) of Lebanon and Tandi L. Allen (Scott) of Lebanon; friend he considered like a son, Bill Vickery of Lebanon; grandchildren, Gwen Hammons, Ben Hammons, Nathan Allen, Brandon Allen and Drew Cummings; siblings, Richard N. Foster (Johnnie Marie) and Clara Jane “Janie” Robinson, both of Franklin; sister-in-law, Nancy Foster of Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by a brother, John Gordon Foster.

Visitation is planned for 9 a.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
