Frederick M. “Fred” Butler

Frederick M. “Fred” Butler, 81, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin of the Indiana Masonic Home Community.

He was born on May 18, 1936, in Penn Yan, New York, the son of Miles F. Butler and Agatha Butler-Lamphier.

Fred is preceded in death by his son, Scott Butler of Wylie, Texas.

Fred is survived by daughters, Polly Pichura of Binghamton, New York, Donna Butler of Missouri City, Texas and Sandra Shackelford of Missouri City, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Carissa, Ryan, Billy, Melissa, Shelby, Katrina, Christopher, Jessica, William and Sarah; and 10 great-grandchildren, Riley, Chloe, Dawson, Fiona, Christopher, Ethan, Emilia, Natalie, Adelyn and Mace.

Fred was a graduate of the University of Buffalo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He worked as a Real Estate Deputy in Perry Township and Marion County, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the Prospect Masonic Lodge No. 719 and was also a member of the Devol Masonic Lodge No. 766, F & A M; Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite; Prospect Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 452 and Ransford Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 605. Fred was a member of the American Legion Post. No. 0777.

A Masonic service as well as a celebration of Fred’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Indiana Masonic Home, Kresge Chapel, 690 S. State St., Franklin, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Kresge Chapel. Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
