Firefighters rescue cat from inside walls

After following the sound of meows, firefighters rescued a cat from inside the walls of a Bargersville home.

The 17-pound cat had crawled behind the walls in the utility room of the home in the 2800 block of Coventry Lane in the Kensington Grove neighborhood over the weekend, and the resident could hear meowing.

Firefighters came to the home twice Tuesday and, as the resident asked, cut into the walls to try to get to the cat. On the first try, they didn’t find the cat. On the second attempt, they found the cat in the wall underneath a bathtub in the home, Bargersville Fire Chief Jason Ramey said.

This was the first time Ramey knew of that firefighters had rescued a cat from inside the walls of a home, he said.
