Frederick Eurie Bennett

Frederick Eurie Bennett, 73, passed away peacefully at his residence in Whiteland on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

He was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Ionia, Michigan, to Ward Bennett and Katherine (Lyons) Bruegel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Lowe) Bennett of 55 years; two daughters, Marjorie K. Buchanan (Curt) of Franklin and Amanda Lee Bennett (Brad Arnold, financé) of Whiteland; three grandchildren, Courtney VanWinkle (John); Carley Buchanan and Trent Buchanan; and one great-granddaughter, Scarlett VanWinkle. Also surviving are one sister, Georgia S. Pierson (Mike) and two brothers, George S. Cronk (Sue) and Frank Cronk (Micki).

He was preceded in passing by his parents; one son, Ricky Bennett and siblings, Lavern Bennett, Ron Cronk, Bonnie Veihl and Judy Conley.

Fred attended school in Michigan. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was member of UAW and employed by Allison’s Transmission as a machinist, retiring in 1999. He was also a member of local union at Harvester Engine Renewal in Franklin.

Fred was a member of Victory Christian Church in Franklin. He loved classic cars and enjoyed going to the casino. Fred enjoyed being around family and friends and especially enjoyed his visits in Michigan.

He was quite the prankster and jokester and enjoyed April Fools’ Day and loved Halloween. Fred enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.

The Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a celebration of Fred’s life at 4 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with calling from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Military honors will follow.
