A man who had threatened to kill himself and held his girlfriend in an Edinburgh home had to be revived by emergency workers on the way to jail.
Police were called to a home in Piatts Trailer Court on Tuesday night on a report that a man was suicidal and was holding a woman inside, and not letting her leave.
Officers went into the home and got the man, Brandon Scott Chambers, 41, to surrender and let the woman go by threatening to use a Taser, according to the Edinburgh Police Department report.
When searching Chambers, police found drug paraphernalia, and he told them he had recently used heroin.
On the way to the jail, Chambers began gagging and then was unconscious, with abnormal breathing, the report said.
The officer gave Chambers a dose of Narcan, which reverses a drug overdose, and emergency workers gave him a second dose. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released, the report said.
Chambers, 521 Locust St., Hope, was then arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, intimidation, possession of narcotics, interference with reporting a crime, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
He was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $66,200 bond.
