FRANKLIN
Mary Louise (Gullion) Ashman, age 93, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 10, 2017, at the Indiana Masonic Home. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Morgantown.
Mary Louise was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Hendricks County, to her parents, the late Burton G. and Vernie E. (Dautrich) Gullion. She was a 1941 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. Mary Louise married Harry T. Ashman on Sept. 19, 1942, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2013, after 70 devoted years of marriage.
Mary Louise worked at Eli Lilly & Co. during the 1940’s. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a 50-year member of Morgantown First Christian Church. Other memberships include the Morgantown Eastern Star, Morgantown Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and the Nineveh Senior Center.
Mary Louise enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and collecting out house miniatures.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Richard) Soendlin of Indianapolis, Tina Massey and Libby (Robert) Torrance, both of Franklin and Kenneth M. (Barbara) Ashman of Naples, Florida; 16 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mary Louise was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Gullion, Kathryn Gullion and Doris Rahn; and a son in-law, Richard Massey.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
