Greenwood hires new city engineer

Greenwood has hired a new city engineer to help plan and oversee infrastructure and construction projects.

Daniel Johnston was named the new city engineer and director of community development services.

Johnston’s responsibilities will include planning, designing and overseeing Greenwood’s infrastructure and construction projects.  Johnston was formerly a project manager for 10 years at HNTB, an engineering consulting firm in Indianapolis. He supervised road and highway design plans before taking a year-long leave of absence to serve overseas with the Texas Army National Guard.

“Working with the city of Greenwood presents me with the opportunity to broaden my expertise while making a positive impact on the community,” Johnston said in a statement. “Greenwood has several exciting projects on the horizon, and I hope to help the city continue to grow for many years to come.”

Johnston will be a valuable leader to Greenwood because of his determination and willingness to go above and beyond, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers said.
