Franklin student wins scholarship

A recent graduate of Franklin Community High School won a scholarship.

Bryor Brown won a $1,000 scholarship through Crane Credit Union.

Applicants had to be members of Crane Credit Union for a minimum of three months prior to the date the scholarships are awarded, plan to be enrolled in school and have a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

Two students in D.C.

Johnson County REMC sponsored two students on a trip to Washington D.C.

Mallory and Morgan Hogue are on the trip until later this week.

More than 1,800 students across 46 states are making the trip due to electric cooperatives.

Tri Kappa names scholarship winner

A Greenwood Community High School student received a scholarship from Tri-Kappa.

McKenzie Burns earned the $1,500 award.

Center Grove students wins Ronald McDonald scholarship

Sydney Castellanos of Center Grove won a $5,000 scholarship through the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana.

Scholarship recipients were honored in late May.

Roncalli student wins award

A Roncalli High School student won a national award.

Senior Heather Lezon received a check for $1,700 as the winner of the 2017 National Association of Women in Construction Architectural and Design competition. Her family dentistry office design was selected from 10 finalists from throughout the United States.

Three Roncalli architecture students swept the statewide competition earlier in the month. Lezon took first place, Maddie DeWitt second and Noah Buening third place.

Space Camp offered

INSpace Camp through Space Sport Indiana will be June 27 to 30 at the Greenwood airport, 1291 Airport Parkway, Greenwood.

The camp is open to special needs children ages 10 to 14.

Campers will learn about drone and balloon flights and rocket launches and go on airplane rides.

Youth Connections offers free camp

Youth Connections is giving your youngster a chance to spend their summer working on STEM concepts.

The STEM Summer Camp will be June 5 to 15 and 19 to 29 at the Johnson County fairgrounds.

Campers will go on field trips and learn STEM concepts at the free camp.
