Local players earn state titles
Paige Waskom and Kaya Rivella, both of Greenwood, helped lead their respective Indy Premier Soccer Club teams to victory at the Indiana State Cup last weekend.
Waskom was a member of the IPSC U15 Girls Nike Elite team, while Rivella played for the U14 Girls Nike Elite squad. They were joined by players from Terre Haute, Batesville, Yorktown and Noblesville.
“Paige and Kaya, along with their teammates worked very hard over the past few months in preparing for the tournament and the chance to win a State Cup championship,” IPSC coach Kenrick Ramirez said. “Their dedication, commitment and desire for improvement helped them win the championship.”
Both teams will move on to play in the Region II Championships in Sioux City, South Dakota from June 23 to 28.
