FRANKLIN
Karen Kathryn Allen, 72, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at her residence in Franklin.
She was born Feb. 13, 1945, in Indianapolis, to Fritz and Charlotte (Klingensmith) Stein.
Karen married Joseph D. Allen on Sept. 8, 1963. He survives in Franklin. She is also survived by two children, Jeff (Laura) Allen of Knoxville, Tennessee and Kimberly (Mark) Grant of Charlottesville; five grandchildren, Dr. Kate Allen, Megan (Cole) Oliver, Jodie Grant, Drew Allen and Emily Grant; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Jo Oliver.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; and brother, Fred Stein.
Karen was a 1963 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School.
She was employed by Johnson Memorial Hospital for 40 years where she was the purchasing director.
She was a member of the Franklin Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 439 and the Order of the Amaranth. She also was a member of Psi-Iota-Xi sorority.
The Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a celebration of Karen’s life at 2 p.m. Friday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from noon to time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
