Joseph “Joe” L. Whitaker, 87, of Bloomington, died on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Porter Whitaker; his daughter, Karen Becker; his son, Raymond Whitaker (Toni); stepchildren, Carol Chambers (Phillip), Debbie Erwin (Rick), Linda Cissell (Don) and Mark Smythe (Tanya); 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris McNabb Whitaker.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel in Bloomington, officiated by Pastor Ron Hawkins. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
