Area sees rash of thefts from cars east of Greenwood

Police are looking for the person or people who have been breaking into cars, east of Greenwood.

At least four cars have been broken into in the Acton area between May 28 and Sunday, according to reports from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after noon on Sunday, a resident in the 7600 block of East County Road 1000N reported that someone broke a window on his vehicle and stole $50, the report said.

On May 29, a couple in the 9500 block of Shelbyville Road reported that someone broke into two vehicles and stole a laptop and a pistol, a report said. Another resident in the 9300 block of South Mitthoeffer Road reported someone broke into his vehicle and stole two chainsaws, the report said.

The thefts occurred within a 2-mile area, east of Greenwood. Thefts are rare in that area, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.

Residents are advised to keep a look out and to keep their property locked, Cox said.
