Five Things: Evening of Play

If you like swimming, and like movies, this event is for you.

Franklin’s Evening of Play is later this month.

Holly Johnston, community events and program director for Franklin Parks and Recreation, tells you what you need to know.

When and where is Evening of Play?

It is at the Franklin Family Aquatic Center on June 22. There will be a free pool party from to 7 to 9 p.m. and then the movie “Free Willy” starts at 9 p.m.

How much does it cost?

The entire event is free, except if you want concessions. The concession stand will be open.

How many people are you expecting?

We have had a big crowd the past few years. We usually have between 400 to 500 people for the pool party and less for the movie.

How did you get the idea to host the evening?

We started the event when we first applied to be a Playful City USA. The event correlates with that application process. It has now become an annual event for us.

What do you want people to get out of if?

We want community members to enjoy our aquatic center and spend an evening with family and friends. We like to offer the event free of charge so anyone can come.
